The Masked Raiders (continued . . .)

After journeying far in the mist-shrouded hills, Keren saw a strange building. Can that be it?—The lonely inn where Roffa’s mind experienced its last few moments of reality? His knock was answered. Food and a bed for the night, young master?—It will be a pleasure!—Heh, heh! From that moment on, Keren’s combat-trained mind and body were alerted for instant action. When the attack comes, I must resist—but be prepared to succumb! See that the best bedchamber is in a fit state to receive our noble guest, wife. We must make sure that he enjoys sweet dreams—Heh, heh, heh! Later, in the gloomy bedchamber, he waited with every nerve screwed to screaming pitch. Where . . . And when? He did not have long to wait! Eeeeeeaaagh! Three lunar days and nights passed. A conference was held in Trigo’s study at the Imperial Palace. Keren has not returned! I think we may safely assume that part one of the plan has been successfully completed! We must now wait with patience for part two! Not far from Trigan City there was a sunkissed spit of land jutting out into the Great Ocean. On it was built a pleasure resort—a holiday playground that only the richest could afford.
One mid-day . . . Aaaaah!—Look! By the stars! It’s . . . Them! By now, the fear of the white-masked raiders ensured obedience. Let there be no resistance! One hardy individualist fought for his possessions—and paid the penalty! Eeeeaaagh! Their task all but completed, the raiders took to the air. If you value your lives, get away from here! And then . . . The millionaire’s playground became a holocaust! Later—much later—officers of a special police unit recovered the victim from the swimming pool. Something clutched in the hand . . . A message! It is a message from Keren!
