The Three Princes (continued . . .)




Some time later, Otho streaked out of a tunnel beneath his stronghold . . . astride a deadly-looking craft! High above his sinister island, he searched for his victims . . . One well-aimed blast will wipe them from the face of Elekton! The four Trigans were hiding among the tumbled rocks on a beach. There he is! By the stars! The fiend is taking no chances this time! If he sights us we’re done for! Yes, but there’s a chance . . . Just one chance . . . Janno wriggled out of his tunic and began stuffing it with pebbles . . . What’s your plan? I’m making a dummy figure to lure him down . . . pass me a rock about the size of a head . . . A few moments later, Otho saw . . . it! One of the Trigans! He came down in a screaming dive, cannons blasting!
As the dart-craft flashed overhead, Janno took aim . . . and loosed his giant bow! If it hits the control surfaces it might bring him down . . . if it misses, we’re lost! It missed! Ha! . . . you have delivered yourselves up to destruction, Trigans! Otho brought his craft round in a breathtaking turn and . . . Run for your lives! Then, suddenly, a monstrous form arose from the surface of the sea! AAAAGH! Giant tentacles whipped out and took the dart-craft in a death grip. Janno saw their enemy strike the water and reappear . . . he saw the groping tentacles . . . Come on! . . . we can’t leave him to such an awful fate! AAAAAAAAH . . . The Trigans formed a living chain. Janno’s hand reached out to grab the panic-stricken man . . . just as he was seized in the monster’s grasp!

Voyage to the Moon Bolus (continued . . .)




Janno and his comrades felt the death blow of the countless red hot particles, and were hurled headlong ! Aaaaaaaagh ! Out of control, the doomed craft toppled over and over . . . falling . . . falling . . . in the grip of Bolus's gravity ! In the turmoil of the control compartment, Thulla's voice was raised in a frenzied scream ! Thulla's order was obeyed . . . moments later, the craft's headlong fall was checked . . . and it swayed slowly down towards the surface of the moon. It descended slowly . . . yet with enough force to smash itself to ruin against a towering cliff wall ! Later . . . the survivors crawled out of the wreckage and looked about them in awe at the inhospitable landscape. We've done it ! . . . we've reached Bolus . . . and now we can never return ! The old scientist pointed . . . to their mother planet.
